Recollections of a Journey
As the book is told in the form of a recollection of a railway journey, I wanted the video trailer to reflect that sense of movement and of going forward through time. It begins with the sound of a train, therefore, and the various characters in the life of Victoria then make their appearances like actors arriving and departing on a stage, swiftly, each one always followed by the next.
The music is taken from Bach's C-major prelude for keyboard. I think it has the perfect blend of old charm and pathos for the story of Victoria as princess and queen - a journey through life (and what a journey it was!).
